Weight loss during the first two months is accomplished normally by simply eating a diet that satisfies hunger. After two months you can raise your level of activity by walking a half an hour each day. With proper dieting and physical activity it is reasonable to achieve the gradual loss of about a pound a week. Always consult your pediatrician before undertaking any form of weight loss strategy, as it could affect your child.

Babies need to eat often — every 90 minutes to two hours. Feed your baby when she begins to show signs of hunger, such as rooting or sucking on her lips, fingers or fist. Try to feed her before she cries. Feeding your baby often won’t spoil her. It will help you learn to become more aware of your baby’s needs.

The mother also receives benefit from breastfeeding; Harvard Medical School has conducted research showing a lower incidence of Type 2 Diabetes in breastfeeding women, and the longer the women feed, the lower the incidence. Breastfeeding mothers also lower their risk of developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and osteoporosis.

Be aware of food sensitivities that can result from common allergens such as cow’s milk, eggs, shellfish, wheat, nuts and peanuts. Some signs of food sensitivity are diaper rash, skin rashes, chronic runny nose, diarrhea and excessive fussiness.

You want your baby to be as protected and as healthy as possible. And just because you can not breast feed, your baby does not have to be deprived of getting the proper nutrition that a baby needs. Often, when breast milk is not recommended it is because the mother’s breast milk is not sufficient for the baby. Therefore, in such cases, high quality formulas are the safest way to care for your baby before he or she can eat baby foods.

You might even choose to use a breast pump to pump all of your breast milk for your infant. Perhaps the baby is not comfortable with breast feeding, or the infant has a hard time with breast feeding or prefers bottles. Pumping all of your milk to feed in bottles is a great choice because the infant will still get all of the health benefits derived from mother’s milk.

A breast-fed baby’s digestive tract contains large quantities of Lactobacillus bifidus, helpful bacteria that prevent the development of harmful organisms. Human milk direct from the breast is always sterile, never tainted by contaminated water or dirty bottles, which can lead to diarrhea in the infant.

One thing that is always a consideration but which is even more important at this time is to protect your breasts. Injury or stress to them can result in conditions such as infection or mastitis which could interfere with your ability to feed your baby and might even result in more extreme health problems. So, always start with a good fitting, comfortable, effective support bra. Avoid exercises which may cause stress to the breasts or pressure on, or impact to, the breasts.

Breast feeding effects mothers figure: First you have to set priority that who is important for you? Your baby’s health or your figure. But its all myth, breast feeding helps you to maintain your figure. The extra weight a mother put during pregnancy is used up when she breast-feeds her bay.
