Diabetes, or Diabetes Mellitus to give it its proper medical name, is a disorder of assimilation. When the pancreases become inactive or atrophied and cease to produce insulin, the body is unable to convert the sugar into energy for the muscles.

Diabetes is one of the most common disorders in which either the pancreas produces insufficient amounts of the hormone insulin or the body cells become resident to the hormone’s effects. Managing diabetes is not very tough if you are quite sincere to your health. Plan your routine and diet and you will wonder how easy it is to tackle diabetes.

Type 1 or insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) occurs when the pancreas becomes unsuccessful to make sufficient insulin. It usually occurs in childhood or adolescence but can expand at any age. These patients need insulin each day.

Insulin is a hormone that is essential to convert sugar, starches, and other food into energy. Insulin permits glucose to move from the blood into liver, muscle, and fat cells, where it is used for fuel. In diabetes, the immune system molests and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas.

Always remember that diabetics still require the same levels of nutrition as everyone else, and sometimes even more. Nutrition is one of the most important elements for learning how to control diabetes. Before you begin using the steps above you should visit your physician; as I am not one.

Type 2 diabetes is marked by insufficient production of hormone insulin or the insulin available does not function effectively in the body; usual onset is beyond the age 40.

The are many popular combinations in herbs, often found in Chinese herbal medicine that have lowered levels of excessive blood sugar for many. For example, a mixture of turmeric, powdered amla, and fenugreek when taken with honey three times a day is a popular home remedy.

This is perhaps the most well-known food in the treatment of diabetes. The seeds of the karela, as it is locally called, have charantin, which helps in reducing the sugars in the blood. As the name suggests, the bitter gourd is indeed bitter and difficult to eat. But it must be eaten in as much bitter form as possible (without sweetening) or its properties will be lost.

Some of the basic symptoms of diabetes are increased thrust, urination very frequently, an appetite increase, able to feel weakness and loss of weight along with erection problems. The probable causes of diabetes are insulin deficiency or resistance, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, a life full of stress and burdens and eating excessively. It is also a hereditary disease and can be transferred to you by your parents.

The first step to avoid them is limiting your sugar intake and eating healthy diet. Complex carbohydrates or simple sugars are extremely harmful and should be avoided to control the ailment. Eating fruits, vegetables that are rich in fiber, and drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water daily will help your body to control sugar level everyday.
