If you are a person who likes making schedule, this method will fit you well. Adjust your sleeping time several days before your departure, but do not over adjust it. Since it will interfere with your daily habit, over adjustment of your seeping habit to avoid jet lag will only be something unproductive. Unfortunately, this sleeping time adjustment is not considered as the best strategy to travel abroad as you are compromising your motor performance during that period of change.

Treatment:

1. If you feel that you really need to sleep and you are still awake, you can try to consume sleeping pills. There are several drugs that are effective to make people fall asleep. Of course there is no guarantee that your sleeping period is prolonged but sleeping aid have no side effect on your physical performance.

2. During you flight, drink plenty of water and soft drinks, avoid alcohol and eat little. Sleep if you can, and before traveling make up this aromatherapy blend. Add four drops of rosemary, four drops of ylang-ylang and four drops of lemon oil to 4 fl oz (100 ml) of carrier oil.

3. A good way to do this is by setting the alarm a little earlier each morning or if you are travelling west you can enjoy sleeping in. If you have trouble falling asleep earlier the use of over-the-counter supplements, such as melatonin or 5HTP, can help the body relax and fall asleep. After executing our pre-trip preventions lets take a look at how we can prevent Jet Lag while travelling.

4. Avoid caffeine, drink plenty of water, eat healthy meals, get as much exercise as possible, do not take sleeping pills, and stay away from alcohol before, during, and a day after your flight.

5. Another option for travelers is to begin to regulate your sleep cycles to the time table of your destination so your body begins the adjustment sooner rather than later. Setting the alarm a little earlier each morning can be combined with the use of over-the-counter supplements to induce and relax the body to fall asleep earlier.

6. As an alternative to sleep, or indeed in addition to sleeping, try listening to soft, soothing music in preference to watching the in-flight movies. Even better; try some form of gentle meditation or relaxation exercises. This will not only help reduce the effects of jet lag, but will also help maintain a normal level of blood pressure and good circulation throughout a long flight.

7. Natural sleep remedies and approaches can be used to effectively manage jet lag and, by taking a proactive approach, you can significantly decrease or limit the severity and number of symptoms - not to mention shortening the duration of your jet lag.

8. Move around during your flight. It is advisable to exercise while on the plane as this will help with your body’s circulation. You can walk around once in a while, move your ankles and do some stretching.

9. Get enough rest. It is key to have a good amount of sleep for couple of nights to help adjust your body clock naturally.
